Purina's North American manufacturing teams were running on outdated factory software that hadn't kept pace with the demands of a modern production floor. As Lead UX Designer working through Imaginet, I was brought in to reimagine a suite of 20+ applications — untangling legacy interfaces and rebuilding them into something that actually worked for the people using them every day, from floor operators to factory management.
Role outline
- Conducted stakeholder and user interviews across multiple user groups to build personas and map existing task flows
- Audited legacy applications to identify inefficiencies and pain points in day-to-day factory workflows
- Built a robust design system of styles, components, and patterns to create consistency across a large suite of applications
- Produced wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes iterated on through usability testing and stakeholder review
- Worked within an Agile environment, collaborating closely with developers through detailed handoff and annotations
- Redesigned core application interfaces to streamline factory workflows and reduce task complexity for both operators and management
- Contributed to a 22% reduction in onboarding time across dozens of factories throughout the USA
